The Sudbury Midget "AA" Wolves stretched their lead atop the Nickel District Minor Hockey League standings to three points over the Blind River Thunder Monday night at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex, and they made it look awfully easy doing it.
The Wolves received goals from six different players and a 15-save shutout from bantam call-up Ryan Teddy, blanking the Copper Cliff Minor Midget "AA" Redmen 6-0.
First period goals from Mathieu Seguin and Justin Lefrancois established the base, and Alexander Barry, Carter Mitroff and Hunter Hykin built upon that in the second.
Ryan Walker closed things off in the third, as Sudbury outshot Copper Cliff 49-15, with Redmen puckstopper Kam McCue doing his very best in keeping this contest to single digits.
The encounter was a quiet affair, with only four minor penalties assessed in all, three to the elder midgets. Midget actiom continues this evening, as the Elliot Lake Wildcats face Copper Cliff at Countryside, with Blind River visiting the Nickel City Minor Midget "AA" Sons Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at the Ray Plourde Arena in Val Caron.
