Brandon Lockman scored with just 24 seconds to play, lifting Valley East RBC Connie's Mortgages past the Nickel Centre Sting 2-1 in the Atom "A" final, highlighting a final day of wild and crazy finishes at the 2012 Nickel Centre Houseleague Hockey Tournament.

The fact that the two Atom foes were so closely matched came as little surprise, with the teams having split equally tight encounters in regular season play locally.

Nikolas Lebuis (Valley East RBC) and Devon Savignac (Nickel Centre Sting) traded goals earlier in the game. In other championship battles that came right down to the wire, Mac Brooks scored the overtime winner, propelling Copper Cliff Pittsburgh past the Massey Predators 4-3 in the Atom "B" final.

Brooks and teammate Jay Grace scored twice each for the Penguins, while Rylee Rivers handled all of the scoring for the Predators with a hat-trick. Markell Verbiwski scored three times, helping offset a four-goal performance by Derrick Lecuyer as Valley East Kalmo Automotive Warriors trimmed the Subway Transformers 6-5 in the Senior Tykes grand finale.

The Valley East Teddy Shack novices scored three times in the final 5:27, breaking open a tight game in capturing the Novice "A" final with a 4-1 triumph over Sturgeon Falls.

In the Peewee gold medal encounter, Carter Rollins scored the game-winning goal midway through the third, with Andrew Parks adding a little extra insurance, finding the open net as the Nickel Centre Jets bested the Copper Cliff Chiefs 3-1.

And in the Bantam championship final, Tommy Lacasse scored the tournament winner early in the third period as the Coniston Flames upset Sudbury Northern Heat Treat 2-1.
