With a reduced roster of fourteen players, down from the eighteen his team has traditionally carried, Italia Flyers U-13 Boys soccer coach Sav Dagostino notes that as his players get older, it is actually easier to play with less players. Now in his fourth year with the club, Dagostino says that many of the core players still remain from the original group.

"I like my team to play what I would call "in your face" soccer" says Dagostino, preferring a very aggressive ball-pressure game plan. "While soccer will always be a game of possession, I want my players to continuously challenge and be mindful of providing support" states the long-time goalkeeper on the local soccer scene.

Dagostino, who is also serving as an assistant coach to Brian Ashton for the regional team, explains that "soccer has always been in my blood, in the family. I sometimes worry that so many players today have lost that passion for soccer." The Flyers are one of five local teams taking part in the SRCSL U-15 division. Along with Clive Stephenson's Panhellenic Storm, Dagostino's team is the youngest in the grouping.

In addition to local league play, the team will take part in the Lake Superior, Panhellenic and Thornhill Tournaments as well as participating in Ontario Cup play in Toronto. "While it really isn't fair not to mention all returning players", Dagostino points out that there are a few keys for his team. "Our midfield is one of our strength and Stefan Herrington really anchors that group" says Dagostino.

Team captain Jordan Sovran plays sweeper and defense, solidifying the back-end for the Flyers while the club will look to striker Joey Martellacci to provide some offensive punch. Flyers roster also includes: Troy Dagostino, Tomi Pollard, Brian Hennessy, Darren Falcioni, Mark Bamberger, Owen Montpellier, Dillan Ruthenberg, Kersey Kalubi, Bradley Terrel, Jay Hennessy and Matthew Ball. In addition to Dagostino, the Flyers coaching staff includes assistant coach Steve Ball as well as team manager, Susan Dagostino.
