Combining all age divisions into a single event, the Valley East Progressive Hockey Association recently played host to their annual rep hockey tournament, merging two previous separate competitions into one. As expected, a solid core of emerging young talent in Valley East continued to flex their muscles as the Rebels Minor and Major Atom teams captured their divisions with relative ease.

Damien Giroux netted the hat trick as the Minor Atom Rebels blanked Walden 9-0 in their final while Daniel Walker and David Ranger scored two goals apiece in a 6-0 whitewash for the Major Atoms, also over Walden.

The Nickel Centre Flyers crew also returned with a pair of trophies as the Novice team knocked off Valley East 3-1 in their Gold medal encounter while the Major Bantams closed out the day, doubling Temiscaming Shores 4-2. The closest of all finals would see Brett Lockhart and Matthew Cashmore score third period goals leading the SMHA Minor Bantam Bulldogs to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Valley East.
