Wolves saddled with first loss - but still with points in seven straight
2026-10-11

Seven games into the 2026-2027 OHL regular season and the Sudbury Wolves have registered at least one point in every single game.

In fact, if not for a late tally from Shamar Moses (19:40 of 3rd) Thursday night in North Bay in a contest that the Battalion ultimately won 4-3 in overtime, coach Scott Barney and company would be riding a seven-game winning streak into a tough three-game road trip next weekend in southwestern Ontario.

With five straight wins tucked in their pockets, the Wolves faced the Battalion in only their second road encounter of the fall, falling behind 1-0 as Ryder Carey opened the scoring for the homeside with a first period power play marker.

The teams traded goals in the middle stanza, with Rowan Henderson netting his fourth of the year to pull Sudbury even before Arseny Pronin restored the Battalion advantage late in the frame.

The Wolves struck early in the third to grab their first lead of the game as Jan Chovan and Parker Smith hit the mark before the period was four minutes old.

Following the Moses' snipe that forced OT, Pronin followed suit, scoring the game-winning goal with just 15 seconds remaining in the three-on-three session as the Wolves were handed their first setback of the year.

It didn't take long to begin their next winning streak however as the local juniors overcame a 3-1 second period deficit the next night at home, burying the Peterborough Petes 7-3 on the strength of six straight goals - four of which came with the Wolves on the power play.

Rookie Kingston Harris broke the ice with his first ever OHL goal for Sudbury on Friday but the Petes came roaring back as Landon Roulston (13:55 - 1st), Adam Levac (17:48 - 1st) and Carson Cameron (4:14 - 2nd) all managed to solve Sudbury netminder Paolo Frasca.

The final 35 minutes, however, belonged to the league's hottest goalie as Frasca has yet to be saddled with an "L", giving way to Owen Leonard who played well in North Bay.

The Sudbury offense took care of the rest as a pair of markers from JC Lemieux and one each from Rowan Henderson, Jan Chovan, Genc Ula and Mason Walker (his first OHL goal) allowed the nickel city lads to pull away for the win.

The Wolves take to the road this week, facing the Windsor Spitfires, London Knights and Guelph Storm on Thursday, Friday and Sunday respectively, before dealing with a home and home on back to back nights with North Bay on October 22nd (in NB) and October 23rd (home).
