Some impressive individual performances have highlighted the Laurentian Voyageurs golf team resume in recent weeks, with the men's team also earning a podium finish at Cutten Fields in Guelph late last month as one and all prepare for the upcoming OUA Championships from October 16th to the 18th at Hyland Golf Club in Ottawa.

The Gryphon Invitational provided a taste of success on both sides of the equation as freshman and Lockerby Composite graduate Ryder Coe shot a two-under par 69 at Cutten Fields, finishing in a four-way tie for first place with Robbie Pemberton (Brock), Kendrick Webster and David Ursu, both from Queen's.

More importantly, when combined with solid rounds from siblings Ryan Di Salle (73) and Connor Di Salle (75), as well as Ethan Burton (76), the Voyageurs four man total of 293 was back of only Brock (283) and Queen's (285) and third overall among 13 competing teams.

"It was more about me wanting to make sure that I came in with a good round for the squad," said Coe. "At the end of the day, you want to do well as a team and not just individually. It was just the thought that I needed to play well for the guys that helped me stay focused."

Coming off a summer which saw him earn a spot on the Ontario Summer Games Team Northeast, Coe has carried over some momentum as he makes the jump to the university ranks this fall.

"My game has been pretty solid," he said. "I've only had one hiccup round throughout all of the tournaments. Mid to low seventies is where I am sitting right now - but there are still a lot of things I can improve on."

"It takes time."

This past weekend, the Laurentian squads made the lengthy trek to Windsor and the Ambassador Golf Club, site of the Lancer Invitational - and while the teams struggled to group together several top-half of the field scores, there was still some good news in store.

Logan West, yet another Sudbury product, a proud graduate of St Charles College, posted a two day score of four under par 138, stringing together rounds of 70 and 68.

That left the veteran of the Laurentian team just a single stroke off the pace set by Lucas Chi of Waterloo, with Liam McKeiver (Brock), Tyler Bunker (Western) and Cameron Greatrex (Queen's) also all in at 138.

Vanessa Patterson has consistently proven to be the top L.U. ladies golfer this fall and did so again in Windsor, her score card reading 172 (85 & 87) at the end of round two.
