Competing as part of a seven-team U22 AA division at the North Halton Fall Showcase last weekend, the Sudbury U22 A Lady Wolves defeated all but one of the remaining six entries at the event - and that only because Sudbury did not face

When all was said and done, six straight wins was enough to lift the locals to a gold medal performance in dominant fashion, not surrendering a single goal against as netminders Desiree Charbonneau and Hayley Turnbull enjoyed a weekend to remember.

The Lady Wolves blanked the Rochester Edge U19 Shields on goals from Danika Gray, Sarah Withers and Reese Williamson as goaltender Charbonneau set the tournament tone in a 3-0 win.

A pair of first period tallies was all that was needed in game two as C.J. Pardy and Chloe Martin found the back of the net and Hayley Turnbull made in stand in a 2-0 win over the Southpoint Stars.

The Lady Wolves expanded their reach, just a little in game three, taking down the North Shore Warriors from British Columbia 3-0 on goals from Sarah Withers, C.J. Pardy and Kendra Cole while head coach Mike Cole continued to rotate his more than steady tandem between the pipes.

The northern gals closed the books on a flawless round robin performance, posting a 5-0 whitewashing of the Owen Sound Ice Hawks as Kendra Cole paced the attack with a two-goal effort. Sarah Withers, Maija Potvin and Danika Gray rounded out the scoring for the winners.

A semi-final rematch between the same two teams followed pretty much the same script as Jillian Landry found the back of the net for her first two goals of the tournament with the Lady Wolves defeating the Ice Hawks 4-0.

Kendra Cole and Maija Potvin both scored in the middle stanza, giving the locals a 2-0 lead heading to the third before Landry added plenty of insurance.

Battling the Belmont Blazers in the final, the Lady Wolves brought it home in style, recording one final shutout win (2-0), with Jillian Landry and Maija Potvin doing the honours offensively.

"This group never stopped competing," said coach Cole. "As coaches, it makes our job a lot easier when you have this much talent spread across the lineup. Every line brought pressure and our defence and goaltending were rock solid all weekend."

Also returning home with some hardware following their six-game surge were Abby Godfrey, Ayla Lagace, Berkley Pitura, Gabirella Massimiliano, Kynlee Cresswell, Lily Violette, Ocean Brassard and staff members Blake Cole, Glen Favot and Paul Pitura (assistant coaches), Shannon Lafortune and Shannon Lafrance (trainers) and Monica Withers (manager).
