A four goal second period outburst and the first shutout in the OHL career of Paolo Frasca lifted the Sudbury Wolves to a 6-0 win over the Barrie Colts Saturday night in Barrie as the local juniors made it two wins in as many games to start the 2026-2027 season.

After Patrik Ula netted the only goal of the opening frame in the final minute of play, the Wolves capitalized on that momentum, doubling their advantage less than two minutes into the middle frame and carrying a comfortable 5-0 advantage into the third.

Tanner Adams opened the second period floodgates with his second goal in as many games, with captain Blake Clayton following suit before Brayden Bennett and Genc Ula both found the back of the net with Sudbury on the power-play.

Limiting the Colts to just seven shots in each of the first two periods, the Wolves relied on Frasca more in the third when they were outshot 17-8 and still managed to win the frame courtesy of a snipe from defenseman Luca Blonda.

The 31-save effort for Frasca was a second straight impressive outing, having surrendered only one goal against in the opening night win over the Peterborough Petes. Other stats of interest included two assists each for Kingston Harris, Mason Walker and Vladimir Provorov and a +4 rating for third year blueliner Luca Blonda.

While all OHL teams are still awaiting the arrival of reinforcements from NHL camps, it's hard to imagine many others having a more impactful crew out of the lineup right now than the Sudbury Wolves, with JC Lemieux, Jan Chovan, Artem Gonchar, Adam Nemec, Finn Kearns and Hudson Chitaroni all still waiting to debut the new campaign.

The Wolves will now play three straight home games over the course of the next two weekends, a relatively light schedule over a 14-day span as the lads play host to the Barrie Colts (Fri Sept 27th), the Brampton Steelheads (Sun Sept 29th) and the Niagara Ice Dogs (Fri Oct 2nd).
