The Memorial Cup is coming to Sudbury.

Yes, Sudbury Wolves' owner Dario Zulich has made it crystal clear that capturing the hardware that has not been won by a local team since 1932 remains a primary goal for he and his team moving forward.

Come Friday, however, the storied chalice will be in town courtesy of long-time OHL scout and local hockeyman Tark Bertrand.

The 55 year-old who suited up with the Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL) from 1989-1992 and went on to coach for five years in the Great North Midget League before joining the Kitchener Rangers as a scout for the 2003-2004 season will be enjoying his day with the Cup - with a couple of visits planned in town.

From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the trophy that was secured by the Rangers thanks to a 6-2 win over the Everett Silvertips back on May 31st will be available for viewing at Skater's Edge Source for Sports.

In the evening, the Memorial Cup will make the move over to 363 Car Lounge just off York Street, behind the former Memorial Hospital.

"Allowing the community to see the Memorial Cup is one of my ways to say thanks for all of the years of support in my community," said Bertrand. The evening event, which includes a cash bar and pizza, will also serve as a fundraiser for the HSN Foundation, with donations generously accepted upon entry.
