Upset in the GSBHL (Greater Sudbury Ball Hockey League) Division "A" semi-finals one year ago, the Zambronis roared back with a vengeance, outlasting the Ball Hogs three games to two in one of the most entertaining and evenly matched finals the league has witnessed to date.
After taking games one and two but seeing the defending champs fight back in games three and four, the Zambronis managed to stay just one step ahead from the moment that Kyle Fransen staked them to a 1-0 lead in game five, edging the Hogs 4-3.
Fransen added a second snipe and was joined on the scoresheet by teammates Matt Rupoli and Mike Grier while Ryan Mooney, Oliver Smith and Greg Paquet countered in a losing cause.
The balance of the Division "A" title winning roster was comprised of Cray Roberge, RJ Erickson, Andrew Selbie, Charlie Venedam, Rob Vizza, Kevin Brosseau, Dave Berthelot, Jamie Brunette, Audrey Boutour, Wesly Richer (goalie), Connor MacKinnon, Jason Provincial and Connor Davis.
The drama was equally as thick in the Division "B" ranks as Jordy Giroux netted the game-winning goal in overtime, lifting the Knuckle Ducks past the Red Ducks 3-2 and taking the best of five affair, three games to one.
The Red Ducks had jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Jesse Pedneault and Lloyd Joanette before Aaron Hamilton and Michael Robineau pulled the eventual champs even.
One of the longest standing league members, Robineau has claimed many a banner at both the "A" and "B" level and is widely respected by his peers around the league.
Rounding out the Knuckle Ducks roster are JC Nantel, Troy Teddy, Ryan Teddy, Steph Frappier, Dennis Hurley, Brogan Hurley, Chris Charbonneau, Nik Charbonneau, Kurt Paajanen, Roy Lahti, Vinson Porter, Braeden Boissoneau, Daanish Haq (goalie), Zack Pepin and Rahim Dharamsi.
