Long distance is a way of life for Katie Wismer.

A graduate of Lockerby Composite and Laurentian University and now working as an emergency physician in northern British Columbia, Wismer recently completed the End of the Tunnel Marathon in Washington State in a time of 2:50.08.

With this and an appearance at the 2025 Boston Marathon (2:56.54) behind her, Wismer has decided to join forces with Laurentian University cross-country / track coach Darren Jermyn, confirmed today as the latest addition to the Track North CAMEL Elite Distance Training Group.

"I'm excited for the workouts, racing, and of course cursing Darren's name under my breath in between intervals," said Wismer. "I look forward to continue racing both half and full marathons over the next few years and hope my times continue to drop."

"Katie graduated as one of the top runners in the school's history, competing at multiple U Sports national cross country championships and still holds the second fastest time in school history over 1500 metres and the fourth fastest time in the 3000 metres on the indoor track," said coach Jermyn.

"She was also a national medalist in the steeplechase as a U20 athlete. Mix that background with her recent marathon results and we have one heck of a fast CAMEL on our hands."

Wismer's first race working under the guidance of coach Jermyn will be the upcoming Victoria Half-Marathon on October 11th.
