The final two meets of the 2025-2026 swim season only served to accentuate just how much the Nickel City Aquatics accomplished this year, even as the athletes embraced a mix of contrasting formats and venues that offered vastly different payoffs.
Competing at the traditional Fred Rams B Championship in Timmins, 15 swimmers representing NCA not only managed to secure a fourth place finish among all northern clubs which were participating, but also returned home with the “Small Team Banner”, amassing 225.5 points.
To suggest that it was a complete team effort is over-stating the obvious as not only did all 15 swimmers contribute to the over NCA team total point production, but they also all managed to achieve at least one personal best time – with several going well beyond that minimum.
The Nickel City Aquatics produced a pair of High Point Trophy winners as Naji Shurrab (8 & under boys) and Charlie Richardson (11-12 boys) both topped their respective age groups. An NCA contingent of 21 swimmers closed out the spring / summer section by travelling to La Belle Province to take part in International SAMAK 2026 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal.
Some were experiencing long course racing for the first time while others competed in their inaugural meet at an outdoor pool. In the end, Noah Snider enjoyed an outstanding weekend, placing top three in four of the six finals he qualified for. Snider was joined in the group of NCA finalists by Abby Ethelston, Emma Dube, Jordyn Maguhn, Andie Tulloch, Charlie Richardson, Liam Ethelston and James Mongeon.
