Ontario Cup bronze medals for GSBA senior statesmen
2026-06-28

Some members of the GSBA (Greater Sudbury Basketball Association) U19 Storm boys team have competed within the club system for a good, long time.

Many have not.

Yet each and every one of the lads who travelled to Ottawa for the 2026 Ontario Cup - Division #2 playdowns could not have asked for a much better wrap to the 2025-2026 season.

Posting a 2-1 record in round robin play that featured a victory over the eventual gold medal winning team and a heart-breaking two point loss in their only setback, the U19 Storm crew advanced to the bronze medal game, returning home with hardware thanks to a 57-46 triumph over the Swampdonkeys from Kirkland Lake and area.

The Sudbury side opened play by handing the Pelham Panthers their only loss, beating the top of the podium finishers 84-79 before improving to 2-0 with a 66-55 victory over ONL (Ottawa Next Level) the next afternoon.

But for a 52-50 defeat at the hands of the Ottawa Shooting Stars, the Storm would have been playing for gold. Given the collection of talent on hand, it's hard to imagine that the GSBA reps did not walk away excessively proud of their efforts.

The 2025-2026 edition of the Sudbury U19 Storm boys team constituted of Keelan Donnelly, Greyson Seifert, Adama Krubally, Zeb Aulenbach, Cade Kirwan, Will Church, Brayden Legendre, Dean Pandi, Keiran Adams, Keenan Eristhee and coaches Tony Church and Logan Lafleur.
