U16 Voyageurs rally to salvage a game vs Ontario Yankees
2026-05-10

It wasn't hard to figure out which of their four game set with the Ontario Yankees that the Sudbury 16U Voyageurs will look to build upon as they forge forward, in earnest, with their PBLO (Premier Baseball League of Ontario) schedule.

In three of the four games, Sudbury was limited to just one run per game, combining for just seven hits in total in those three outings. In game two, however, the Voyageurs pounded out no less than ten safeties and rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh, eking out a 6-5 win.

Callum Hopkins was the offensive catalyst to the victory, going 3/4 and driving in four runs while Owen Lamothe matched that 3/4 effort, crossing the plate twice and chipping in an RBI as well.

Nate Omeljaniuk picked up the win on the mound, pitching two and a third innings of hitless and scoreless ball, striking out four batters and walking only one.

The 16U crew are hosting the Ontario Prospects this weekend for a two game set on Sunday (Saturday was rained out) and will make it three straight weekends at home on May 16th & 17th with the Ontario Giants in town.

Rounding out the Sudbury roster are Franky Finamore, Tyler Peters, Liam Hagen, Liam Stephens, Adrien Cecchetto, James Brouillette, Olivier Seguin, Luka Kosza, Nick Paquette, Ryder Roy and Matteo Spadafora.
