A steady stream of great competition kept the Sudbury U22 House League Lady Wolves hopping over the course of the Easter Weekend at the 57th Annual Brampton Canadettes Tournament, but in the end, there would be a nice treat waiting for the northern Ontario girls.
Five straight super-close encounters gave way to another gold medal performance as the locals closed out their 2025-2026 season in style.
There were no victories to be found on Friday as the Lady Wolves opened with a pair of ties, knotting things up with both the St Catharines Brock Jr Badgers (1-1 - Delaney Williams with the goal) as well as the Hamilton Hawks (2-2 - Sarah McCann; Carissa McInnes).
A two goal effort from Sarah McCann allowed Sudbury to hit the win column thanks to a 4-3 triumph over the Stoney Creek Sabres in game three as Destiny Davis-Carrière and Natalie Kerr potted one goal each.
The Sunday afternoon semi-final was equally as close but far more dramatic as Brianne Schnarr drilled home the game-winning tally with 3.9 seconds showing on the clock as the Lady Wolves booked their ticket to the final with a 5-4 win over the South County Harrow.
Carissa McInnes and Sarah McCann both registered two-goal performances for the winners as netminders Kara Benton and Keira Garratt continued to share the duties between the pipes.
The Lady Wolves had come full circle in the gold medal affair, faced with a rematch with the St Catharines Brock Jr Badgers from game one and this time around, a goal from Carissa McInnes would stand as Kara Benton recorded the shutout in the 1-0 triumph.
With head coach Jean-Luc Larouche and assistants Marc Carrière and Kevin McCann guiding the way, the U22 House League Lady Wolves would earn two gold medals and a silver in their four tournament appearances this year.
The balance of the team roster included Serenity Couillard, Estelle Larouche, Marin Wilson, Mackenzie St-Germain, Morgan Knight, Izabel Courville and trainers Josée Davis and Marianne Sasseville.
