Territorial advantage would only take the GSSC (Greater Sudbury Soccer Club) 16U Impact Boys so far in their most recent weekend set of games as PISL (Provincial Indoor Soccer League) action continued earlier this month.
At some point, they needed to put the ball in the back of the net.
Thankfully, Nathan Estriplet was on target on both days as the Impact blanked both Richmond Hill and Whitby by the identical score of 1-0 as keeper Sebastian Gonzalez recorded back to back clean sheets.
The defensive unit of Corvyn Forest (CDM), Liam Muldoon (RB), Waylan Croome (LB) and centerbacks Hamoudi Najem and Logan Anderson was solid from start to finish.
And while forwards Domadius Aziz and Ilyas Sambo were busy creating chances - Diego Larios rang a shot off the post - finishing proved challenging for the team that remains unbeaten in league play this winter.
The team will enjoy a bit of a twist this weekend, taking part in some six on six soccer as the annual Great North Winter Classic takes over the Lancer Dome for the weekend.
A total of 33 teams are on hand, with finals set for Sunday afternoon. As for the 16U Impact Boys, they resume PISL play in the middle of March.
