U14 Storm boys make their way up, one step at a time
2026-01-19

It might not be much of a jump for the GSBA (Greater Sudbury Basketball Association) U14 Storm Boys, but it is better than nothing.

After posting a record of 5-1 over the course of three weekends of OBL (Ontario Basketball League) play to date, the Storm found themselves promoted from Pool "J" to Pool "I" - joined by the North Bay Spartans crew which went undefeated at 6-0 through November, December and early January.

The Sudbury lads got things rolling in early November, taming the Cambridge Centaurs 52-21 and completing their single day sweep in Toronto with a 42-31 victory over the Thornhill Thunder.

The U14 Storm Boys duplicated that record again one month later with victories over the Orangeville Bears, in a nail-biter (55-53) and by a more comfortable margin over the Orillia Lakers (51-35).

Their only setback in the first half of the OBL schedule would come against North Bay, losing a close one 53-48, but bouncing back later in the day and running all over IEM King City 77-46.

When the dust settled, the GSBA reps found themselves moving up one rung of the ladder, set to face the likes of the Ancaster Magic, ONL (Ottawa Next Level) - X, Ontario Elite, MUMBA Elite and North York Lions< beginning on February 7th and 8th (site to be determined).

The 2025-2026 roster for the team features Nicholas Folino, Emmett Shonwise, Zach Roy, Hutton Duval, Malik Hussam-Eddin, Brady Hartley, Chidube Elendu, Cruz Serre, Khalid Sambo, Mason Millwood, Ezekiel Ngeleka, Hunter Lavallee and coaches Derrick Hartley and Bill Gordon.
