It may take a few more years for the Sudbury Artistic Swimming Club (SASC) to truly see the fruits of their labour - but with a pair of U10 provincial level teams attending the recent Lisa Alexander Figures and Skills Meet in Nepean, the future looks bright for the local crew.

Of the 12 athletes who represented the SASC at the event, no less than ten youngsters placed in the top half of the 32-athlete individual grouping (NE Region) that also included swimmers from Nepean Artistic Swim Club, GO Capital Artistic Swim Club (Ottawa) and Durham Artistic Swimming Club (Oshawa).

The northern pack were led by Malaina Dupuis, a first year competitive swimmer who recorded a score of 52.0000 to place third in the NE, with Olivia Beauvais (51.5000 - 4th) and Evelyne D'Onofrio-Jones (51.0000 - 5th) rounding out the top five.

Violet Timony (50.6667) placed sixth, with the collection of Ella Aho (48.3333), Ariane Dupuis (48.0000), Brielle Thornton (47.8333), Hannah Martindale (47.5000), Leah Freelandt (46.3333) and Jett Hebert (45.8333) all ranking in the upper 50% of their bracket.

Also representing Sudbury in the team event were Aarefa Bootwala and Gabby Boudreau, as the SASC team now prepares to have their 13-15 (years old) and 16-20 regional entries take part in their first meet of the season on January 24th in Kingston.
