Sudbury Five head coach Joey Puddister was going all in with his starting five Saturday night at home.

With his opening tipoff lineup netting 101 of the team's 121 points, all while averaging 37 minutes of playing time per player, the Five improved to 2-0 thanks to a 121-110 win over the visiting Montreal Toundra.

Unsurprisingly, all five Sudbury starters hit double digits, with Keyshawn Bryant (31) and Charlie Marquardt (27) showing the way and Duane Notice (18), Allen Billinger (14) and Alex Kotov (11) kicking in with some helpful secondary scoring.

Khalill Dukes topped the Montreal attack with 23 points, with Kyle Steward and Jeremy Hayes both a couple of buckets back at 19 points each as the Five jumped out to a 31-25 lead after Q1, up 51-46 at the half and extending to 90-84 heading to the final 12 minutes of play.

A look at several of the stats showed a great deal of similarity, notably in areas such as total rebounds (40-39 - SBY), field goals made (37-35 SBY), free throws made (37-33 SBY) and even a defensive stat such as turnovers (15-13 SBY - mind you in a category where lower is better).

After breaking the ice just 16 seconds in courtesy of a Keyshawn Bryant jump shot, the Five trailed only once during the entire game, that with 2:17 to play in the opening half as Brandon Beloti gave Montreal a 46-45 lead.

Twenty-four seconds later, Charlie Marquardt restored the advantage for the home side and they never looked backed, closing out their season opening three game homestand next Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. as the Windsor Express pay a visit to northern Ontario.

Coach Puddister and company follow that up with three straight road games the following week, facing the Lake Erie Jackals (January 14th), the Windsor Express (January 16th) and the KW Titans (January 17th) in a span of four days.
