There is, perhaps, a little solace to be found in the fact that the Sudbury Wolves finished the evening dead even in shots on goal with the Brantford Bulldogs, both teams putting 31 pucks on target.
That said, for a team that has now opened the 2025-2026 season with a record of 0-6-1-0 and had just dropped a 6-0 decision to the Bulldogs, it was likely very small solace indeed.
Proving to be far more productive converting on their chances, the home side rode a balanced attack that saw six different players find the back of the net along with a 31-save performance from goaltender David Egorov to their fifth win of the season, the Bulldogs the only OHL team that has yet to be saddled with a defeat in regulation time.
Goals from Parker Holmes, Adam Benak, Jake O'Brien, Caleb Malhotra, Layne Gallacher and Vladimir Dravecky powered Brantford to victory as the East Division powerhouse opened up leads of 2-0 and 5-0 before capping things off with a final tally in the last 20 minutes of play.
Sudbury starter Finn Marshall was saddled with the loss, remaining between the pipes from start to finish as the Wolves continue a busy Thanksgiving weekend with a trek south of the border to face the Erie Otters on Saturday night.
The Otters hold down last place in the Western Conference with a record of 2-6-0-0 while the Wolves hold the dubious distinction of having scored the fewest amount of goals in the OHL (just eight goals in seven games) as well as allowing the most goals against (35).
Sudbury will close out the weekend with a Sunday afternoon encounter in St Catharines, doing battle with the Niagara Ice Dogs (4-3-0-1).
