Lively and Timberwolf deadlocked after day 1 of Ryder Cup play
2025-07-04

All three teams are on the board as Ryder Cup day one action wrapped up at the Timberwolf Golf Club late Friday afternoon.

A clutch putt on the final hole by Chase Chatwell allowed the Lively Golf Club mainstay and partner Jean-Luc Lacelle to earn the all-square opposite the home course tandem of Kyle Lekun and Joey Kremer - also lifting Lively into a first place tie with Timberwolf with 2.5 points apiece.

The Idylwylde Golf & Country Club was limited to just a single point as the family partnership of Vince and Vincent Palladino earned a 2-up victory over Alex and Ben Fowke (Timberwolf), with the critical day three set moving to the pristine setting that runs, in part, along Lake Nepahwin.

Timberwolf team captain Brian McGarry and partner Curtis Tammi toppled Lively newcomers Dave Pinkerton and Jordan Couture (2-up) while veterans Jay Jewett and Matt Dumontelle also took advantage of their home course knowledge, upending David Bower/Evan McLean (Idylwylde) 2-up.

Recording wins for Lively were Max Kallio/Dan Couillard (2 & 1 vs Jason Picco/Bryan Davidson - Idylwylde) as well as Cory Vaillancourt/Alex Watier (4 & 3 vs Johnny Svalina/Ethan Mulligan - Idylwylde).

Play resumes Saturday in Lively with nine of the 12 pairings remaining intact. The Timberwolf team captured their first Ryder Cup since 2015 last summer, with Lively walking off with honours in 2022 and 2023 and the Idylwylde showing the way in 2021.
