For as much as the Sudbury U22 Rockhounds would surely love to have a do-over on the second period of their semi-final encounter with the Cambridge Highlanders, there wasn't a whole lot else to complain about as the team went 3-1-0 at the Hamilton Super Series last weekend.

The Rockhounds piled their goals together in a hurry in their Friday night opener, scoring three times in a span of two minutes or so late in the first en route to a 5-1 victory over the Peterborough Lakers.

A hat trick from veteran Kai D'Amour helped to show the way, with Ben Harris and Alex Hachez adding one goal each. The host team would make things a little more difficult on Saturday morning as Sudbury doubled the Hamilton Bengals 4-2, extending their winning streak to two.

A two-goal effort from Alex Hachez and solo tallies from Ashton Eadie and Blake Ramalho provided ample support for goaltender Mason Robertson and a very impressive Rockhounds defensive front.

The Rockhounds secured first place in Pool A in style, bolting out to a 6-2 lead after two periods and vanquishing the Wallaceburg Griffins 6-4 as Kai D'Amour was, once again, front and centre on the attack, drilling home four goals.

Jacob Barney and Mitchell Vendette also found the back of the net as Sudbury would move on to face the second place team in Pool B.

Unfortunately, a scoreless first period gave way to four unanswered goals for the Highlanders as a Rockhounds' rally fell short, the locals dropping a 4-2 decision on Sunday.

Kai Erkkila and Xavier Esquimaux-Osawamick snipped for the northern crew that are back in action from July 11th to the 13th, participating in the Conradi-Engemann U22 Memorial Tournament that gathers 16 of the top teams in the province.

The preliminary schedule for Sudbury includes outings against the Wallaceburg Griffins, Kawartha Lakes Fury and Fort Erie Hawks.
