It was quite the weekend for Jan Chovan.

This past Saturday, the Los Angeles Kings selected the 6'2" forward who hails from Bratislava (Slovakia) in the 6th round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, # 184 overall.

Over the course of draft weekend in Los Angeles, the Sudbury Wolves also firmed up the commitment of the 18 year-old (he turns 19 in early January) whom they selected as their first round pick in the 2024 CHL Import Draft last summer.

Chovan spent the 2024-2025 season with Tappara U20 in Finland, netting 11 goals and 12 assists in 39 games. The left-handed shooting talent would also represent Slovakia at both the World U18 and World Junior Hockey Championships.

Chovan is expected to help bolster a Sudbury attack that will see the likes of Kocha Delic, Quentin Musty and Ondrej Molnar moving on and with tough decisions ahead on an overage group (2005) up front that includes Chase Coughlan, Alex Pharand, Jack Ziliotto, Lucas De Giantommaso and Tayjon Street.

Following is a breakdown of other forwards on the Wolves roster at this point in time, by year (as shown on the OHL website):

2006-born: Nathan Villeneuve, Kieron Walton, Marshall McCharles, Joey Brehmer

2007-born: Jan Chovan, Hudson Chitaroni, Rowan Henderson, Blake Clayton, Kimani Eccleston, Grant Booth

2008-born: Ethan Dean, Henry Doucet, Greg Najda, Mason Walker, Vladimir Provorov

2009-born: Brayden Bennett, Parker Smith, Kingston Harris
