The Lo-Ellen Park Knights are enjoying a day unlike any other in the history of SDSSAA track and field.
On day two at OFSAA in Toronto, the Knights have four medals (to date), include a gold-silver finish for novice hurdlers Levi Blouin and Mikko Leinala and a second gold medal performance courtesy of Annabelle Richardson (100m dash - novice girls).
Senior multi-sport talent Riley Graffi came through on the biggest of stages, clearing 1.90 metres in the high jump to secure a share of bronze as well.
To boot, the Knights still have multiple athletes in finals, including three of their 4 X 100m relay teams.
****************** UPDATE ******************Make it six medals in a single day for the local high-school track and field juggernaut as both the Novice Girls (gold) and Senior Girls (bronze) rose to the podium in their respective 4 X 100m relay races.
The grade nine quartet of Lia Gallo, Rya D'Amour, Ellie Sauve and Annabelle Richardson blitzed to a first place finish (49.76) in a race that saw the first four teams separated by just over a tenth of a second.
Meanwhile, the senior Knights outleaned Loretta Abbey CSS (North York) to earn bronze as Jaya MacDonald, Amanda Syncox, Milena Kulik and Melina Doiron all walked off with some hardware after looping to lap in 48.19 seconds.
Adding to the Sudbury haul was Sophia Carlson (Marymount Academy) earned a silver medal in the Ambulatory 100m dash, finishing second to Nala Beans from St Theresa (15.84 vs 16.88).
