Drafting three times in the opening two rounds of the 2025 OHL Entry Draft on Friday night, the Sudbury Wolves added a trio of forwards to their group of prospects as the team looks to be in a position to welcome a host of new talent for the 2025-2026 season.
Listed as a hair under six feet, Ottawa native Brayden Bennett was the first off the board for the Wolves, the Toronto Titans sniper (40 points in 49 games) selected 11th overall.
Cited as an above average player blessed with a high compete level, Bennett was with Ottawa Myers U14 AAA Automotive in 2022-2023 before making the move to the GTHL the following season, suiting up with the Toronto U15 AAA Jr Canadiens.
With back to back picks in the middle of round two, Sudbury selected Vladimir Provorov (New Jersey Rockets) and Parker Smith (Waterloo Wolves) number 37 and 38 overall.
The younger brother of Columbus Blue Jackets' defenceman Ivan Provorov, the 5'11" centreman has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, ostensibly for the 2027-2028 season, leaving the 16 year-old with at least two years potentially in northern Ontario.
Less than a week away from celebrating his 16th birthday, 5'8" left winger Parker Smith has enjoyed more hockey stability of late than the previous two, his minor hockey career running the course of the Waterloo Wolves AAA program in each of the past three seasons.
With the U16 AAA Wolves, Smith recorded 20 goals and 44 points in 28 games, earning a call-up with the Cambridge Redhawks of the GOJHL.
With no third round pick, the Wolves turn their attention to Saturday, holding a slot in every round except the 13th (round) and with two selections to be made in both round seven and round nine.
