Team NOHA has left the 2025 OHL Cup on a winning note.
After falling short in their first three outings of the highly attended event that brings together the bulk of the top-end OHL draft eligible talent in Ontario, Team NOHA rode a strong performance between the pipes from Bruce Laronde to a 2-1 win over the Halton Hurricanes in their fourth and final game.
Nico Bossio (Soo Greyhounds) opened the scoring with a power play goal in the opening stanza, with NOHA doubling their advantage in the second when Grady Dale (North Bay Trappers) netted a short-handed tally.
Turning aside 19 of the 20 shots that he faced, Laronde slammed the door after Aleksandr Sementsov spoiled the shutout bid early in period three as Team NOHA posted a 1-3 mark in the twenty team event that sees the Don Mills Flyers facing the Toronto Titans later this evening in the final.
The northern lads were blanked 3-0 by the Huron Perth Lakers in game one as the Alliance entry scored once in each period, with Wes Robertson, Myles Phillips and Kane Barch doing the damage.
A quick start in game two saw the NOHA build up a 3-1 lead early into the middle frame only to see Detroit Little Caesars rally in a big way, knocking off coach Peter Michelutti Jr and company 6-4 when all was said and done.
Gunner Gullstrand scored twice to pace the Caesars' attack as Brock Burch, Massimo Santa Maria, Kage Flory and Christian Kolodzeij chipped in with one goal each.
Cedar Montreuil (North Bay Trappers) countered with a pair of snipes for the NOHA, joined on the scoresheet by Trappers' teammate Owen Smith and Adam Pszeniczny (Soo Greyhounds).
The Toronto Red Wings buried four unanswered goals between the middle of the first period and the first few minutes of the third, leading the GTA crew to a 5-2 wiun over Team NOHA as Tyler Hinde scored twice for the winners.
Matthew Hong, Cade Campbell and Markus Harper capped things off, offensively speaking, for the Red Wings while Theo Bourdon-Lemoyne (Kapuskasing Flyers) and Owen Smith replied in a losing cause.
Rounding out the 2025 OHL Cup roster for the NOHA are Sam Piette, Gillis O'Daiskey, Tanner Morris, Tyler Huffman, Tanner Carriere, Dreyon Boissoneau, Karter Buchmann, Anthony Carbone, Carter Brownlee, Frankie Reda, Wyatt Jarrett, Jacob Vincent and Nathan Watts.
