With numbers taking a hit due to the March break, the GSSC (Greater Sudbury Soccer Club) U17 Impact boys called in the reinforcements for a pair of PISL (Provincial Indoor Soccer League) games a little over a week ago.

Thanks in large part to the efforts of Massimo Montini, Braydon Sartor, Jason Uloghobui and Wesley Forest, the locals were able to secure a split in their two game set at the York Soccer Stadium.

A 3-1 loss to the second place Markham SC Lightning was encouraging, given the opposition as Nathan Beland netted the only Sudbury goal.

The center back duo of Emmanuel Boamah and Pierce Rothwell kept the back line well organized, allowing midfielders Matias Gonzales and Alessandro Moretta to focus on the task at hand through the heart of the pitch.

Facing an equally depleted Etobicoke FC Bulls roster the next day, the Impact rode a five-goal performance from Kouame Nango to an 8-1 victory as the talented teenager took full advantage of the move to forward in this game.

Nathan Beland drilled home his second and third strikes of the weekend with Emmanuel Boamah finding the back of the net for the first time this winter.

Up front, the pairing of Josh Rioux and David Santos not only helped generate chances on the attack but provided excellent support as coach Dino Moretta recognized the defensive efforts of his team.

The U17 Impact will contest their final encounter of the indoor season on Saturday April 5th in Mississauga, giving way to the training that sets the wheels in motion for the outdoor season soon to follow.
