No less than eight different SDSSAA schools were represented among the 13 different local gold medal winners from the NOSSA wrestling championships in Elliot Lake last Friday.
The Lasalle Lancers (Karthikeya Kancherlapalli – Boys 44kg & Keenan Duval – Boys 130+kg), Lively Hawks (Lucas Laquerre – Boys 51kg & Janelle Jollette – Girls 44kg), Bishop Carter Gators (Kane Chartrand – Boys 57.5kg & Lexi Winnington-Ingram – Girls 67.5kg), Lo-Ellen Park Knights (Max Hunter – Boys 72kg & Mauricio Meija Pulido – Boys 67.5kg) and Macdonald-Cartier Panthères (Ryland House – Boys 83kg & Ben Ben Bayda – Boys 95kg) could all boast of double winners.
Rounding out the top of the podium finishes from a Sudbury perspective were Mia Dufresne (Marymount Regals – Girls 51kg), Sophie Simo (Sudbury Secondary School North Stars – Girls 72kg) and Owen Parro (Confederation Chargers – Boys 130kg), with OFSAA set for next Monday and Tuesday in Kitchener.
