Both the Laurentian Nordic Ski Club (LNSC) and Walden Cross Country were very well represented at the recent Ontario Cup #3 races in North Bay - though both in slightly different ways.
While an older group of Laurentian Nordic skiers led by the likes of Julian Luoma (2nd in U16B - 5 km - 15:51.6 - field of 42 racers) and Laurentian University teammates Margot West (2nd - Senior Women - 10km - 35:42.0), Grace Thomas (3rd - U20 Women - 10km - 39:03.3), Lucas Jones (4th - Senior Men - 10km - 33:41.8) and Cameron Boland (5th - Senior Men - 10km - 34:48.7), all donned the LNSC singlets, the Walden crew of 15 were very top heavy with relative newcomers to the scene, with 13 athletes competing in U12 or below.
Other notable performances included the likes of Paul Masters (LNSC - 6th - U12B - 3km - 13:11.5 - field of 23 racers), Cormac Adams (Walden - 7th - Senior Men - 10km - 35:38.4), Kerry Abols (LNSC - Masters - 1st - 10km - 32:46.2) and Callum Wiss (Walden - U18B - 11th - 10km - 32:52.0).
Rounding out the Laurentian Nordic Ski Club contingent were Senior Men Jamie Brain and Laydon Bursey, Olivia Norman (Senior Women), the U20 Men duo of Finley O'Brien and Jack Anderson, as well as youngsters Eden Abols and Chesley Godwin, Henry Londsale (U10), Roslyn Godwin (U12), Meehan Lonsdale (U12), Olivia Luoma (U12), Ryan Pineau (U14), Julia Masters (U14) and Georgia McShane (U14).
