SDSSAA (Sudbury District Secondary Schools Athletic Association) will be sending six teams in addition to a nice grouping of individual runners to the 2024 OFSAA Cross-Country Championships next Monday in Ottawa - with more than half of those athletes representing the powerhouse that is the Lo-Ellen Park Knights.

With first place finishes, as a team, in all three girls divisions as well as junior boys and a second place finish in senior girls, the Knights squads will be joined by the Lockerby Vikings junior boys in the nation's capital.

The top individual performances by Sudbury runners at the NOSSA meet in Sault Ste Marie last week included gold medal showings from Lia Paille (LEP - NG), Julian Luoma (LEP - NB), Matteo Ceccon (STB - JB), Valerie Vaillancourt (Sacre Coeur - SG) and Shiloh Sauve.

The lowest team score on the day belonged to the Knights junior girls team of Megan Pineau (2nd), Alessandra Melo (7th), Anna Shelswell (9th) and Alexandra Hann (11th), good for a low score of 29 points.
