It has been quite the week of golf for the local family tandem of Alex and Ben Fowke.

Less than a week after enduring extremely challenging playing conditions en route to carding a two-round score of 12 under par, good enough for a two stroke win at the Gerry Laferriere Two-Man Invitational last weekend at Cedar Green, the brothers act helped lead the Laurentian Voyageurs to a second place finish at the first OUA tournament of the fall.

Alex (71) and Ben (72) combined with L.U. teammates Vincent Palladino (72) and Connor Di Salle (75) to post a team score of 290 at the Guelph Fall Kickoff, seven shots back of the Brock Badgers but four ahead of both the Laurier Golden Hawks and Western Mustangs.

The fifth member of the Laurentian contingent was also within shouting distance as Oliver Taillefer finished with a round of 80 at the Guelph Lakes and Country Club on Friday.

The Voyageurs are back in action on Monday as St Thomas Golf & Country Club will be the scene for their second event of the season as the OUA crew gather for the Western Invitational.

As for the Two-Man, the duo of Chris Bevan / Jesse Piercy were second with a two day total of 130, matching the 62 that the Fowkes enjoyed on day two with Matt Dumontelle and Jay Jewett sliding in at nine under par.
