The St Benedict Bears (boys) and Bishop Carter Gators (girls) completed their 2024 OFSAA Soccer Championship with somewhat mirror imaged schedule of results as the duo returned home last weekend.

The Bears opened play with a 1-0 win over the Westview Freedom Academy Falcons then duplicated that effort versus Toronto District Christian High-School from Woodbridge, also blanking the YRAA reps 1-0.

Though the score remained the same, the St Benedict lads were knocked from the ranks of the undefeated the next morning, trimmed 1-0 by the Nicholson Catholic College Crusaders from Belleville before booking their tickets to the final eight with a 4-3 triumph over the St Thomas Aquinas Saints from Kenora.

Despite clinching first place in Pool B, the Sudbury crew were sent packing as Ecole secondaire catholique Sainte-Tinité - Les Loups stopped the Bears 2-0 en route to their gold medal performance in Jordan Station.

As for the Gators, the knew they were in tough right out of the gate, swarmed 4-0 by the St Joseph's Catholic High-School Rams from St Thomas and fell by the exact same count in game two, this time to the Tecumseh Vista Academy - Secondary Vortex.

A slight improvement in the final score as the Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute Raiders whitewashed Bishop Carter in game three, with the SDSSAA girls salvaging a little pride with a closing 1-0 victory over the E.S.C. Thériault Flammes from Timmins.
