Add another strong wave of young local golf talent to the mix, this grouping coming courtesy of the schools within the CSCNO (Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario).
At a recent elementary tournament hosted at Twin Stacks in Coniston, no less than three separate two-person teams managed to post a score of 37 through nine holes, with a tie-breaker ultimately going the way of the Alliance St-Joseph tandem of Luca Séguin and André Beaudry.
Matching their score were teams representing Jean-Paul II (Nicholas Christakos/Noah Bianconi) and St-Paul - Lively (Liam Hagen/Max Landry).
The latter pairing combined with schoolmates Logan O'Shaughenessy and Aderson Morolt to capture the team event, with the second duo carding a score of 39, giving St-Paul and two team average score of 38.
Also breaking a score of 45 were Ty Bélanger and Jackson Barrette from Ste-Marie (39), Gabriel Zaher and Carter MacNeil from Félix-Ricard (43), Félix Paquette and Ethan Gallagher (43), as well as a pair of entries from St-Denis (Erik Leith/Alex Ben-Anteur and Ben Dabous/Sebastian Benateau-Price), both at 44.
A total of 57 students took part in the event, including twelve female golfers, with 11 different schools boasting entries.
