The Women’s World Cup of Soccer watch is still on for Sudbury native Cloe Lacasse, expected by many to be on the Team Canada roster set to compete in Australia and New Zealand from July 20th to August 20th.
That might not be the end of her travelling.
Following a very successful four year career with Benfica in Portugal, helping the team ascend as three time winners of the Campeonato Nacional Feminino, the 29 year-old graduate of ES Macdonald-Cartier is now firmly on the radar Arsenal women’s club in England.
Ranked 10th in the world (vs 21st for Benfica), Arsenal is hot on the heels of Juventus on the women’s side of things, second only in England to the Chelsea side. Adding the offensive skill-set of Lacasse, an exceptional talent who netted more than 100 goals during her time in Portugal would only strengthen their global standings.
Reports out of the UK indicate that Arsenal has tendered an offer to Benfica in order to acquire the services of the Canadian woman whol first evolved professionally in Iceland after completing her NCAA career with the University of Iowa Hawkeyes
