There is a far more than typical Sudbury flavour to the makeup of the Laurentian Voyageurs 2022 golf team - for very good reason.

A glut of talented local juniors have emerged in recent years, pacing the way to a very competitive L.U. eight man squad that is 75% nickel city based.

Cracking the roster this fall are returnees Jacob Lacko and Vincent Palladino, both from Sudbury, as well as Alliston native Evan Moon. Rounding out the crew are St Charles College siblings Ben and Alex Fowke, the Lo-Ellen tandem of Ethan Mulligan and Oliver Taillefer, as well as Adam Matuchky.

Team tryouts last week were highlighted by a sizzling round of seven under par 65 carded at the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club by Jacob Lacko, the young man who topped the field at a Brock University sponsored event at Sawmill Golf Course last fall.

The Voyageurs kick off 2022 tournament play later this week in London, taking part in the Western Invitational, followed by the McMaster Invitational next week, all leading towards the OUA Championships scheduled to run from October 14th to 16th in Ottawa.
