Four of six games end in ties in U10 AA northern hockey rivalry
2024-02-27

Fresh off a January trip to the International Silver Stick and a silver medal performance at the South Simcoe Storm Classic in early February, the Sudbury U10 AA Wolves were back in league action in a battle of the top two teams in their division of the Nickel District Minor Hockey League.

And just as was the case when Sudbury and the Soo Jr Greyhounds met up in the Lock City in late January, the majority of the three game return set in the Nickel City was very tightly contested.

The exception, on both weekends, was the opening game, with the Hounds tripling the Wolves 6-2 back on January 20th and the locals returning the favour on the morning of February 17th, dusting the visitors 6-1.

Jaxon Wicklander (2G+1A) and Alex Brujic (1G+2A) showed the way for Sudbury, with Nathan Arnold, Hudson Gray and Luke Pavacic also lighting the lamp once each.

From there came back to back 3-3 ties, not a complete shock given that these teams had produced 3-3 and 2-2 encounters in their final two outings in Sault Ste Marie.

Game two in Sudbury would see Jaxon Wicklander, Nico Brujic and Luke Pavacic finding the back of the net while the Sunday affair was the Jaxon Wicklander Show, offensively-speaking, the youngster netting the hat trick with linemate Alex Brujic recording assists on all three goals.

Rounding out the balance of the U10 AA Wolves roster are Bennet Gertz, Cassius Mars, Dexton Cardinal, Huxley Leclair, Kamden Barlow, Luca Apolloni, Mason Aubrey, Max Clark, Zack Zanatta, Loucas Couture and Sebastien Boyer.
