Updates from the 2018 Telus Cup
by Randy Pascal
With the start of the 2018 Telus Cup effectively one month away, things are starting to ramp up for the local organizing committe.
Ramping up their fundraising efforts, the group will be hosting the Saturday afternoon "porketta bingos" at Overtime Sports on Notre-Dame Avenue on
both March 31st and April 7th, with the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves stepping in on April 14th.
Something of a Sudbury tradition whereby slabs of porketta are offered as prizes for the lucky bingo enthusiasts, the upcoming sessions include three cards for an
afternoon fee of $20/person, the fun taking place from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., each and every Saturday.
Consensus suggests that the event is far more fun to partake as a small group, with the winnings typically shared with those at the table. As well, Telus Cup
officials are reminding all local hockey fans that the week-long ticket packages remain for sale, with the bulk purchase easily one of the more economical values
seen in elite hockey circles.
A ticket package that includes access to all 19 games, including the gold and bronze medal affairs, can still be purchased for $44, either at the Sudbury Arena
box office, or by visiting the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association office at Minnow Lake Place on Bancroft Drive.
