Lady Wolves in pre-season and tournament action
by Randy Pascal

Though the real test will come later this month at the Stoney Creek Showcase, the Sudbury Bantam "AA" Lady Wolves had to like what they saw in a dominating two game sweep of the Sault Ste Marie Wildcats in exhibition play last Sunday in Blind River.

The locals blasted the Cats 6-1 and 8-1, outshooting their rivals 93-24 over the course of the encounters. Jenna Lachance paced the Sudbury attack in the opener, scoring twice, with Aoife Mahaffy, Tessa Favero, Elise Bélanger and Kelsey Dunn adding one marker apiece.

A great sign in terms of a potent, across the lineup, offensive punch as Elle Laberge and Chloe Leduc jump on the scoresheet with two goals each to show the way in game two.

Dunn and Lachance were joined by Ashtyn Denomme and Lauren Fearn in netting solo tallies, as the team prepares for their first tournament of the year, one which sees the Lady Wolves pitted against Detroit Honeybaked, Gloucester-Cumberland Stars, Milwaukee Jr Admirals and host Stoney Creek Sabres in round robin play.

In the meantime, both the Sudbury Midget "A" Lady Wolves and the Sudbury Bantam "B" Lady Wolves will also kick off tournament action this coming weekend, travelling to Oakville for the annual Harvest Classic Girls Hockey Tournament.
