Noah Martin qualifies for Pan Am event in Costa Rica
2017-07-01
by Randy Pascal

Making good on one of his two brackets at the 2017 Taekwondo Nationals, local talent Noah Martin of Falconbridge Taekwondo has secured a berth, with some friends, at the Junior Pan Am Taekwondo Championships in Costa Rica in August.

Competing in both the sparring and team poomsae competitions, Martin did not reach but the podium in the former, but managed to team with Samuel Lee (Mississauga) and Naoh Mann (Orillia) to secure gold in the latter.

The team poomsae event requires participants to synchronize their movements, moving as one unit, in a pair of high performance patterns (poomsae). They must ensure that kicks are at the same height, movements are fully coordinated, even yelling at exactly the same time.

Coached by Mike Larose, Martin has travelled regularly to train in Mississauga as well, overcoming adverse weather conditions even as they made the trek west to Calgary for nationals.

The Junior Pan Am Taekwondon Championships are scheduled to run from August 26th to the 29th in San Jose, Costa Rica.
