Bears and Pantheres bow out at OFSAA soccer

No playoff action for either local entry at the 2017 OFSAA Soccer Championships as both the Macdonald-Cartier Panthères girls and the St
Benedict Bears boys were sent to the sidelines following round robin play.
Competing in Toronto at the OFSAA Girls "A" playdowns, the Panthères split their opening two games on Wednesday, dropping a 3-2 decision to North
Toronto Christian School Flames before posting a 4-0 whitewash over the Ursula Franklin Flames, also from Toronto.
Macdonald-Cartier failed to hit the win column on day two, doubled 4-2 by the Hamilton District Christian High Knights and edged 2-1 by the
University of Toronto Schools Blues.
St Benedict were somewhat more successful, picking up a win and a tie during the four game stint in Windsor. The Bears were in tough out of the gate,
silenced 2-0 by the Guido de Bres Gryphons, but improving to .500 with a 4-0 shutout of the Timiskaming District Secondary School Saints from
St Benedict remained in the hunt for a playoff spot Friday morning, following a 2-2 tie with the Lester B Pearson Patriots from Burlington, but
were sent packing later in the day, suffering a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Mackenzie Mustangs from Deep River.
