Re-introduced tumblers qualify for provincials
by Randy Pascal

The re-established tumbling group with the GymZone – Sudbury Laurels is officially off and running. Taking part in the third Ontario Cup qualifier of the season recently in Durham, the locals managed to advance all four team members through to the provincials being held in Barrie in early June.

Individual results were as follows:

Halley Baker – women’s level 2 – 15 and over – 5th place
Emilie Lefebvre – women’s level 2 – 12 and under – 6th place
Bailey Jackson – women’s level 2 – 15 and over – 8th place
Elaina Allen – women’s level 2 – 12 and under – 9th place

With a pair of cross-over athletes in the mix, the trampoline team also enjoyed a measure of success with the following quartet:

Halley Baker – women’s level 3 – 13 and 14 – 4th place
Pauleena Moote – women’s level 5 – 16 and under – 6th place
Kyle Lapierre – men’s level 6 – 18 and over – 10th place
Elaina Allen – women’s level 1 – 12 and 13 – 13th place

“I think the most notable accomplishment from this competition is that of the tumbling group, as a whole,” stated coach Michelle Seanor, upon their return to Sudbury. “All the members of our new tumbling team have qualified to represent the Laurels at provincial championships. That accomplishment marks quite a successful re-introduction to the tumbling competitive system.”
