Paul Guenette leads the WolfPak in season opening race
by Randy Pascal
The Scott Ontario Cup XC Racing circuit kicked off last weekend in Uxbridge, and the Walden Mountain Bike Club's WolfPak Racing team looked to be in mid-season shape.
The local crew opened the new campaign with a pair of podium finishes, led by club veteran Paul Guenette, who claimed silver in the Senior Expert (19-29) male field, covering the course in a time of 1:36:38.
A newcomer to the WolfPak this year, Ian Sagle showed some immediate promise, also earning a second place finish. Sagle posted a time of 1:35:38, good for a silver medal in the Master Expert (30-39) grouping.
Rounding out the local contingent at the early season meet was rookie Luukas Ovaska, placing seventh in the Cadet Sport (15-16) division with a time of 53:59. The Walden team is back in action his coming weekend, heading to the Hamilton area
to take part in the Paris to Ancaster endure race.
