Paul Guenette leads the WolfPak in season opening race
2017-04-26
by Randy Pascal

The Scott Ontario Cup XC Racing circuit kicked off last weekend in Uxbridge, and the Walden Mountain Bike Club's WolfPak Racing team looked to be in mid-season shape.

The local crew opened the new campaign with a pair of podium finishes, led by club veteran Paul Guenette, who claimed silver in the Senior Expert (19-29) male field, covering the course in a time of 1:36:38.

A newcomer to the WolfPak this year, Ian Sagle showed some immediate promise, also earning a second place finish. Sagle posted a time of 1:35:38, good for a silver medal in the Master Expert (30-39) grouping.

Rounding out the local contingent at the early season meet was rookie Luukas Ovaska, placing seventh in the Cadet Sport (15-16) division with a time of 53:59. The Walden team is back in action his coming weekend, heading to the Hamilton area to take part in the Paris to Ancaster endure race.
