Noteworthy NCA news from NEOR Developmental Meet

A total of 24 young swimmers represented the Nickel City Aquatics recently, as the Olympic Gold Pool (Laurentian University) served as the
site of the NEOR (Northeastern Ontario Region) Development Meet #1.
Thirteen year-old Tristen Aikia-Lauzon registered five personal best times, shaving off a combined total of nearly a minute and a half in a
variety of events, and earning a bronze medal in the 100m individual medley, and gold in the 200m butterfly. “The improvement in her technique and
increased confidence is leading to more competitiveness,” said NCA head coach Alain Delorme.
Similarly, twelve year-old NCA mainstay Niko Ovaska demonstrated incredible consistency, posting six second place finishes, while racing across
the board in the 100/200m individual medley, 100/200m backstroke, 200m butterfly and 800m freestyle. “I was so impressed with his commitment to making the
right technical choices when racing,” noted Delorme.
Others cracking the top three in individual events included Joshua Clapham, Tommaso Deni, Keegan Lepage, Paul-Emile Pelletier, Emilia Rietze, Ben
Schell, Aislinn Munro and Matt Clapham, with Delorme praising the latter for his “fiery competitiveness”.
The training continues this month for the NCA crew, with a “Top Fish Meet” planned for November 20th, a “Learn to Train Camp” set for
North Bay from November 25th to the 27th, and a return to the same venue on December 2nd and 3rd for NEOR Development Meet #2.
