George Lacko claims NOPGA crown
2016-08-22
by Randy Pascal

There still is some competitive drive within the professional golfing community in Northern Ontario.

Gathering entries from across the north, the Titleist Footjoy NOPGA Championship would find the top five golfers separated by just five strokes, as George Lacko of Pinegrove recorded a single stroke victory over Tyler Cameron of North Bay.

Competing at Osprey Links Golf Course in Callandar, Lacko fired rounds of 68 and 76, holding off Cameron (145), Alex Watier of Lively (146), and Daniel Garagan (Pinewood) and Ryan Davis, both at 149.

A number of those on hand have now slipped over the ranks of the "senior" grouping, with Tom Clark of Timberwolf showing the way for the elder statemen, carding a two day total of 157.

Rounding out the top three seniors were John Hastie of the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club, and Dave St Onge of Eagle Lake Golf & Country Club in South River.
