by Randy Pascal
Local trampolinist Kyle Lapierre enjoyed a triumphant return to the Ontario Cup circuit, showcasing the talent that had garnered him
national level attention.
Lapierre finished first in at a qualifier in Windsor, placing him well ahead of the field in the Level 6 – 18+ grouping, with Canada Cup in later
this month, and nationals still to come.
Making his debut at the national level five, Sebastien Larochelle placed eighth, a strong showing given this first opportunity to compare his
skills to other national level competitors.
Pauleena Moote (provincial 4 women) garnered a 12th place finish, improving scores across the board from her first competition at this level, and
moving up five placements in this category.
Kerine St Georges (provincial level 2) successfully transitioned from years of involvement with the women’s artistic stream, also breaking the
ice in terms of her entry to the world of trampoline competition.
Just down the 401, in Kitchener-Waterloo, Connor MacDonald (provincial 1 – age 10-11) used a personal best score of 9.7 on the vault to help him
earn a bronze medal. The sole Sudbury representative in the men’s artistic field, MacDonald also returned home with a 6th place ribbon based on his
performance on the floor exercises.
